2.4 is now available in the Magic Leap Store!
In addition to the 2.4 features & updates (see 2.4 release notes above), we have made a number of updates and improvements specific to the Magic Leap platform including:
Connect Improvements
We have updated the version of the libraries used for Connect and now holograms can be shared in the video feed when on the Magic Leap device.Notes & Evidence
Authors can now record holograms in video and photo notes, and operators can include holograms in video and photo evidence.Gesture Fixes
We have fixed a number of issues and made improvements to the gesture system that allows hands free usage of Manifest. This includes fixes that could stop the app from correctly processing input if the application was backgrounded and then resumed.Scanning Improvements
We have implemented a new library for scanning QR codes which should be faster and more accurate.Other fixes
* fixed an issue in which voice dictation could stop working
* added a new option to skip the initial intro sequence
* fixed some window alignment and positioning issues
* made improvements to the on screen keyboardAugust 26, 2021 at 10:21 am in reply to: How to create 3D animations supported by the new version #977MaureenParticipantWhen uploading a 3D Animation file to the Manifest Web Application, the server will extract any metadata / animation frames (if available), parse them out, and make them available for the 3D Models in Manifest. If your animated 3D Model is not displaying animations in the drop-down list – possible reasons might be:
– Model file type: Currently this is only supported for FBX model files but we should have an update within the next several weeks that also supports this for GLB and GLTF model files
– Model does not have multiple animations: If your modeler did not create the animation with multiple frames and only has a single animation for the model file it will only render the single play optionMaureenParticipant2.4 for Manifest 3D on HoloLens is now live in the Microsoft Store! (Magic Leap is right around the corner)
Please find the full set of release notes below and let us know if you have questions or how you like the updates!
GENERAL FEATURE ENHANCEMENTS
- Improved Scanning Accuracy
- Users can now request access to edit a template when another user is editing
- Added the ability to take and perform jobs with Choice Notes offline *Note that Authoring Choice Notes offline will not be supported in 2.4
- Added the ability to edit Choice Notes, Action Notes, and Text Notes
- 3D Model Related Bug Fixes
-
- Fixed issue where sometimes if an FBX model saved in another unit type would not render correctly in device. IMPT Note: this may require previously configured 3D Models to adjust scale to adjust for this fix.
- Fixed issue causing GLB models not to load
MODEL RELATED UPDATES IN 2.4
The Manifest 3D 2.4 release launches a massive roll-out of new tools, UI, and features related to working with 3D Models – including the ability to view and manage Model Views and to select from specific animations in an animated 3D Model. To learn more about the expansive set of changes and new features, read on…
Redesigned Asset Tag Adjustment Tools and Options
- We’ve hidden the Asset Tag Menu under options, the three-dot icon under the asset tag hologram. Selecting this button will expand the menu of options.
- To move the Asset Tag – simply select the asset tag hologram, hold, and drag to the desired position.
- Select ‘Tag Adjust’ under Options to access the Asset Tag Adjustment tools. This will place the tag in a flattened bounding box allowing users to adjust by grabbing the handles to rotate in any direction. User can use multipliers to speed up for fast movements, or slow down for precise positioning.
New! Model Control Panel
- A Model Control Panel can now be easily accessed from the Asset Tag options menu. From the Model Control Panel, users can:
-
- Select from associated Models, Views, and Animations (as available for that asset) and load by selecting they eye icon for “Show”. The user can also hide a 3D Model
- Access Model Adjustment tools
New! 3D Model Adjust Tools
- Direct Adjust – Manipulate (scale, position, rotate) a 3D Model with direct interaction through the use of a bounding box. Enabling the bounding box will encase the 3D Model in a box with tools on each face of the cube so users can adjust the placement, rotation or size of the model by interacting directly with the bounding box.
- Proxy Adjust – Manipulate (scale, position, rotate) a 3D Model by interacting with a smaller representation of the model, the Proxy Cube. The Proxy Cube renders a small cube that can be positioned by the user and provides easy to access tools to control adjustments on larger models.
New! Model Information Window – Access the new Model Info window from the Asset Detail. This window will display which 3D Models are associated with an asset or asset class and allow you to select and show or hide any 3D Model, View, and Animation. Authors can also access the Model Set-up Wizard or Model View Management from this window.
Model Set-up Wizard
- Users will be alerted if a 3D Model has not been set-up on the 3D application yet (this means setting the 3D model position in relation to the asset tag.
- Model set-up will prompt users (author only) through a two-step set-up wizard to set the scale, rotation, and position in relation to the asset tag.
- In addition to the new 3D Model Adjust Tools, Authors will have the option to set the position or rotation coordinates using manual input or a slider UI for quicker adjustments.
Model View Management
- Authors can now set-up new Model Views for any model directly on a 3D device. Authors can also edit or delete existing views or update a new view to be the default.
- Updated 3D Model Action Notes for Model Views & Animations
- Authors can now create step Action Notes that triggers a specific Model View and/or Animation to render for an Operator during a job.

MaureenParticipantWe have a new and exciting update available for HoloLens 2! We’ve also been rolling out ongoing improvements and feature enhancements in the Client Web Portal that we’d like to share. Please check out the release notes below for more details –
HoloLens 2 – v.2.2 Release Updates
Manifest Connect – You can now share holograms (whether it be Manifest UI, a digital twin, or otherwise) in a Connect Video call. You will need to enable this option before initiating or accepting a call.
New! Manifest Direct enables a remote desktop user to view an Operators’ physical environment through a first-person view and then through that video feed directly interact with the environment to direct the user as needed. Manifest Direct includes:
· Ability for a remote desktop user to point highlight or ink in a 3D users’ environment.
· Ability for remote desktop user to render directional arrows for a 3D user to guide their gaze.
· Remote desktop user can follow the 3D users’ gaze via eye tracking.
New! Choice Notes – Branch procedures, add troubleshooting paths, or author multiple-choice options. Authors now have the ability to create up to 5 choice paths for an operator to select from at any step. A choice can be programmed to either go to a new sub-job or to proceed to the next step.
UX Updates – you’ll find we’ve made a few updates to improve the user experience and efficiency. This includes:
· Redesigned Step Marker
· Redesigned Step Authoring – all phases of step authoring (editing title, positioning, Leader Lines, and notes) can be done at once.
· Sub-jobs are now handled with stacking job checklist windows; opposed to indented steps on job checklist.
· An animated pen icon will now display on templates (under the Templates tab) when they are being edited in either the Client Portal or 3D application.

Thank you for your patience. Please reach out if you continue to see any related issues.
MaureenParticipantHi Brian,
Could you please provide some additional details so we can help to isolate and resolve the issue?
What do you see after you launch the application? Is it the opening animation video and does it run to completion? Do you have user credentials and a client domain or are you attempting to sign up for a trial?
Please feel free to reach out to our help desk at help@taqtile.com so we can troubleshoot with you.
Thank you!
MaureenParticipantThere is an updated release available for Manifest on HoloLens 2. If this is your first time installing the application, you can find it here. Here’s what’s new –
New!
- Group Chat in Manifest Connect! Create a group chat to collaborate with multiple contacts. Team Jobs will automatically generate a group chat so you can track and communicate updates throughout the job. This feature does not include call/video option.
- Send Voice Notes via Manifest Connect
- You can now edit Team Job assignments or invite additional team members at any time (even after a job has started).
- New option to leave Pen Notes as evidence (or require it for any step). This is ideal for inspection scenarios using Manifest and allows an inspector to leave spatial annotations with a step note for your review.
- We’ve added a Battery Status indicator (just below the Command Strip). This might help if you’re running low on juice and need to power back up before you start a big job.
- If you make a Connect Support Request (calling out from a job step marker), the job card now automatically adds to your chat so the other user can reference the job firsthand.
Bug fixes in this release include:
- Fixed Issue where more than 3 notes would leave blank spaces
- Fixed issue limiting entries on step title to 50 chars
- Fixed issue on HoloLens 2 where spatial mapping could block UI interaction while authoring
- Adjusted where Job Name is displayed on Job Checklist and added Job ID
- And miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements
MaureenParticipantOkay, good to know. We’ll keep an eye out too and let us know if additional questions or issues resurface on this one.
MaureenParticipantHi Wesley,
Thank you for reporting this discovery. This appears to be a hole in that workflow. You should never see the option for “create job” when you are in an Asset Class – but sounds like somehow it appears after previewing the template and treats like an asset. We will check out the repro steps to put a bug fix in place for it. Thanks for all the detail and astute observations.
Also – I’m glad you like the enhancements on the Client Portal. With each release there continue to be more improvements to UX and features, and I’m glad to see they are useful.
Thanks,
Maureen
MaureenParticipantHi Wesley,
Good to hear from you! What you’re seeing is the spatial mesh that gets enabled and displayed when you use any tool which relies on understanding surfaces in your space. In the case of pen notes – the spatial mesh drops and allows you to ink over objects or surfaces when using the pen tool.
If this doesn’t happen for your colleague – is it possible they are not using the actual pen tool, but rather using pen shapes (which would not rely on the spatial mesh)? Or are there any other notable differences between the two experiences (eg. app version, device)? Maureen
